Call of the Sea sequel Call of the Elder Gods gets a close-at-hand release date
Call of the Elder Gods, the sequel to 2020’s narrative puzzle adventure Call of the Sea, will launch on May 12 across multiple platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X, as well as Xbox Game Pass. The game is being published by Kwalee and developed by Out of the Blue.
Like its predecessor, Call of the Elder Gods is a first-person adventure deeply rooted in Lovecraftian horror themes, drawing specific inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s novella “The Shadow Out of Time.” Players will navigate strange and mysterious locations while solving environmental puzzles to uncover secrets and progress through the narrative.
The sequel expands the gameplay by introducing multiple playable characters. Players will control professor Harry Everhart, a character who was missing in the original Call of the Sea and played a central role in the player’s quest throughout that game. The expanded cast and dual-character perspective promises to deepen the game’s narrative and provide new puzzle-solving perspectives.
This announcement confirms Kwalee’s support for Nintendo’s new console with a day-one title, while the broader platform release strategy ensures accessibility across major gaming ecosystems. The inclusion on Xbox Game Pass further expands the potential audience for the puzzle adventure.
