AMD Confirms 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Will Be the Most Expensive Ryzen CPU Ever

AMD has announced pricing for its flagship Ryzen 9950X3D2 Dual Edition processor, setting a new record as the most expensive consumer-grade Ryzen CPU ever at $899 USD (£829 UK, €999 EU). The price represents a $200 premium over the original 9950X3D and a $100 increase over the 2020 Ryzen 5950X.

The 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is positioned as a high-end enthusiast and halo product, designed for users seeking maximum performance. The key differentiator is its dual 3D V-Cache design, with 3D V-Cache technology applied to both of its CCDs (Core Complex Dies). This doubles the L3 cache to 192MB compared to 128MB on the original 9950X3D, while boost clocks remain nearly unchanged at 5.6GHz (down marginally from 5.7GHz).

This premium pricing reflects the specialized nature of the chip, which targets enthusiasts willing to pay top dollar for the performance gains enabled by the expanded cache configuration. The 9950X3D2 Dual Edition represents AMD’s flagship offering in the Ryzen lineup for this generation.
