Don’t Starve is back for more darkly whimsical co-op survival in Don’t Starve Elsewhere, and this time there’s hills!

Klei Entertainment has announced Don’t Starve Elsewhere, a new co-op survival game in its acclaimed darkly whimsical franchise. The game was officially revealed during the 2026 Triple-i Initiative Showcase, continuing the multiplayer focus established by Don’t Starve Together while introducing significant upgrades and new features.

Don’t Starve Elsewhere invites players into a “strange and unforgiving new world filled with magic, monsters and mystery,” maintaining the series’ gothic, sketchbook-style aesthetic. The game retains the core multiplayer survival crafting mechanics that made Don’t Starve Together popular, while building upon both the original solo experience and its 2016 co-op predecessor with notable improvements.

Several familiar characters return for the adventure, including Wilson, Willow, Wendy, and WX-78, maintaining continuity with the series. Among the new elements featured in the game are terrain features such as hills, adding fresh environmental variety to explore and navigate. The announcement has generated considerable enthusiasm among long-time players of the franchise, with the detailed reveal trailer showcasing numerous refinements and additions that appear to enhance the established survival formula.

The game represents Klei’s continued commitment to expanding the Don’t Starve universe, leveraging the developer’s expertise in cooperative survival games while introducing new challenges and mysteries for players to discover together in this unforgiving world.
