Nexon confirms reorganizaton at The First Berserker: Khazan developer but says it’s merely ‘a strategic reallocation of talent’ as development winds down

Nexon has reorganized the development team at Neople, the studio behind the action RPG The First Berserker: Khazan, effectively disbanding the team as it existed. All staff members have been reassigned to other projects within Nexon, though they remain employed by the company.

The game initially received strong reception following its launch, earning a “very positive” rating on Steam across nearly 20,000 user reviews and impressing players with its distinctive visual style and challenging, Souls-like gameplay. However, sales subsequently declined and failed to meet the publisher’s expectations.

Korean news agency Yonhap first reported the reorganization, citing poor performance as the reason for the staff reallocation. In response, Nexon released a statement characterizing the changes as “a strategic reallocation of talent” aimed at allocating resources more effectively across ongoing projects, rather than framing it as a direct response to the game’s underperformance.

The move marks a significant transition for Neople, with the development team no longer functioning as a unified unit. While the staff remain part of Nexon, they are no longer working together on The First Berserker: Khazan, effectively signaling the end of active development on the title.
