Off The Grid developer Gunzilla accused of failing to pay employees

Gunzilla Games, the developer and publisher of NFT battle royale Off The Grid and owner of gaming publication Game Informer, faces widespread allegations from multiple current and former employees that the company has failed to pay staff salaries for months. Several workers have publicly detailed compensation issues on social media and LinkedIn. Animator Paul Creamer stated he has not been paid since October 2025, while talent acquisition lead Anna Savina reported “significant salary delays” with no explanation from management. One former employee described the situation as “systemic” and claimed upper management was aware of the problem but failed to act, with some workers alleging attempts to suppress complaints about unpaid wages.

In response, CEO Vlad Korolev issued a lengthy statement denying that the company failed to pay “full-time official employees,” suggesting the accusations conflate different employment categories. However, testimonies from affected staff indicate at least some complainants held full-time positions, contradicting the distinction Korolev drew.

The studio, co-founded by filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) and with offices in London, Frankfurt, and Kyiv, has positioned Off The Grid as an innovative battle royale incorporating optional NFT elements. Despite ongoing early access development, the company’s apparent financial difficulties have raised concerns within the gaming industry about operational stability and labor practices.
