The New Game From The 1000xRESIST Team Looks Sick

Sunset Visitor, the indie studio behind the critically acclaimed 1000xResist, has announced its next game: Prove You’re Human. The game features an unusual premise—convincing an AI that it is not a real person, rather than the conventional narrative of questioning an AI’s humanity.

Revealed at the Triple-i Initiative showcase, the new title reflects Sunset Visitor’s commitment to engaging with contemporary cultural themes through speculative fiction. Creative director Remy Siu explained that the team specifically sought to explore AI through established science fiction traditions, a particularly timely choice given AI’s dominance in 2024’s cultural landscape. The game features a distinctive visual: a giant robotic head mounted on a stick that players must persuade of its artificial nature.

This thematic approach aligns with how Sunset Visitor designs its games. 1000xResist, their debut, drew parallels to pandemic isolation through its narrative of a sole survivor cloning an entire society. The studio consistently reflects the world around them in their work, using speculative fiction to comment on present-day concerns.

Following Ursula K. Le Guin’s philosophy that science fiction is descriptive rather than predictive, Sunset Visitor uses their games to examine contemporary issues rather than forecast futures. Prove You’re Human promises an interesting inversion of typical AI narratives, using an interactive format to engage with current anxieties about artificial intelligence and what defines humanity.
