‘Samson’ And ‘Xbox’ Have Been Trending This Week, But It’s Off To A Rough Start On PC
Samson, the debut title from newly established developer Liquid Swords (founded by Christofer Sundberg, former co-founder of Avalanche Studios), launched on Steam and Epic Games Store on April 8th, 2026. The open-world action game received a mixed critical reception, with a Metacritic score of 48 and a “Mixed” rating on Steam.
The game faced significant criticism for repetitive and clunky gameplay mechanics, a bland narrative, and—most critically—multiple game-breaking technical issues and performance problems. Despite mixed reviews, some players acknowledged its strengths, with the most helpful Steam review noting the game was “surprisingly alright” as a straightforward crime action experience.
In response to the rough launch, studio creative director Christofer Sundberg acknowledged the issues, calling the bugs “unacceptable” and stating the team “released a game with flaws for a number of reasons.” The developers have committed to releasing a major patch before the end of the week to address the most pressing issues. Notably, the update will also add multiple save functionality—a feature notably absent from the launch version.
This represents Liquid Swords’ first major release since its establishment in 2020 and official announcement in 2022. The game was originally conceived as “a connected single player action RPG” with “a hard-boiled take on the open-world crime genre.”
