Palworld is getting some competition as Pokémon-like Temtem unveils survival spin-off Temtem: Pioneers
Temtem, one of Steam’s most successful Pokémon-like creature collectors, is launching a survival spin-off called Temtem: Pioneers. The game was revealed during the Triple-I Initiative showcase by developer Crema Games and appears directly inspired by the massive success of Palworld.
Temtem: Pioneers is described as an “ambitious open-world survival crafting adventure” that combines creature collection and battling with base building and survival mechanics. Players will gather materials, craft equipment, build bases, and explore an untamed world alongside a team of tameable creatures. The game emphasizes personalized gameplay, encouraging players to “grow, discover, and build something uniquely you to enjoy with your Temtem.”
Progression is tied to exploration and biome discovery. Each new biome introduces new resources, Temtem species to catch, and new ways to interact with the environment. This design encourages ongoing exploration and discovery.
The announcement reflects the gaming industry’s broader response to Palworld’s success, with other developers exploring similar creature-collecting survival mechanics. For Crema, this spin-off leverages their existing player base from the original Temtem while incorporating the survival and crafting elements that made Palworld popular. The move allows Crema to offer a fresh take on the creature-collecting genre while capitalizing on the current market interest in survival-crafting games. Temtem: Pioneers represents the natural evolution of the genre as competitors adapt to Palworld’s demonstrated market appeal.
