Warhammer Brings Its Own ‘Vampire Survivors’ Game To Switch 1 & 2 This Year

Warhammer Survivors is a new roguelite game developed by Auroch Digital that adapts the wildly popular “Vampire Survivors” template to the Warhammer universe. The game will feature characters from both Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar, bringing the tabletop franchise’s iconic warriors and factions to the bullet-heaven subgenre.

The collaboration is notably unique because Poncle, the independent studio founded by Vampire Survivors creator Luca Galante, is directly involved in development. Rather than reverse-engineering the formula, Warhammer Survivors uses the exact same engine and technology powering the original, ensuring technical consistency and authentic roguelite gameplay.

Auroch Digital, known for Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, is leading development. This partnership demonstrates Games Workshop’s willingness to collaborate with established independent creators to expand the Warhammer brand into new genres and gameplay experiences.

The game emphasizes core roguelite horde survival mechanics: players face endless enemy waves while strategically upgrading weapons and abilities. As progression continues, new character combinations unlock and power scales to absurd levels typical of the genre.

Warhammer Survivors is confirmed for Nintendo Switch (original and Switch 2) and PlayStation 5, with a 2026 release window. This multi-platform approach targets audiences across Nintendo and Sony ecosystems. The roguelite genre has proven particularly popular on Switch, making it a natural fit for the handheld platform’s fast-paced, portable gameplay style.
