Highly anticipated pirate survival game Windrose lands a release date, and it’s setting sail very, very soon

Windrose, a pirate survival game developed by Windrose Crew and published by Pocketpair, has announced its early access launch on Steam scheduled for April 14th. The announcement was made during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase, generating excitement within the gaming community for the highly anticipated title.

The game represents a significant evolution from its original vision. It was initially conceptualized as Crosswind, a free-to-play MMO experience. However, extensive player feedback during alpha testing prompted the developer to pivot toward a more focused, premium model designed for one to four cooperative players rather than a massively multiplayer experience.

This strategic direction change has proven successful. A substantial Steam demo released earlier demonstrated considerable appeal, with players responding enthusiastically to the new gameplay direction and validating the developer’s decision to shift away from the free-to-play MMO model.

Pocketpair, the acclaimed publisher behind the global phenomenon Palworld, is handling publishing duties for Windrose. The studio’s involvement suggests confidence in the project’s potential as it enters early access.

The April 14th early access launch marks a significant milestone for Windrose Crew, bringing their pirate survival experience to a broader audience through Steam.
