Highly anticipated pirate survival game Windrose lands a release date, and it’s setting sail very, very soon

Windrose, the highly anticipated pirate survival game, is set to launch on Steam Early Access on April 14, 2026, as announced during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase. The game has become one of Steam’s most-wishlisted titles with over 1.5 million wishlists, making this release date announcement a major milestone for the indie gaming community.

Windrose Crew’s survival title generated substantial anticipation following its demo appearance during Steam Next Fest in February 2026. At that time, the developers stated they needed more time to complete the game, but the project has progressed sufficiently to move forward with its early access launch.

The game combines classic survival mechanics with a pirate-themed setting in an alternate-history Age of Piracy. Players can expect to engage in the “build, craft, survive” formula across vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries. The experience is further enriched by hand-crafted dungeons and quests designed to complement the procedurally generated world.

The co-op nature of Windrose positions it as a multiplayer survival adventure, allowing players to share the pirate experience with others. This appeals to those seeking a social survival gaming experience reminiscent of popular titles like Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag.

With nearly 1.6 million players already showing interest through Steam wishlists, Windrose’s early access launch represents a significant release for the indie gaming space. The April 14 date gives interested players just days to prepare to set sail with Windrose Crew’s ambitious pirate survival experience.
