World of Warcraft player housing was sorely lacking PvP so Blizzard is dropping its own version of prop hunt
World of Warcraft’s player housing feature is receiving a new PvP mode inspired by prop hunt gameplay. The mode leverages the game’s extensive catalog of household decoration objects, allowing players to engage in competitive matches where they can disguise themselves as furniture and props to evade opponents.
This addition addresses a gap in WoW’s player housing system, which has traditionally focused on customization and personal space rather than PvP competition. By incorporating the household items available for decoration, Blizzard is creating a novel gameplay experience that merges housing customization with competitive play.
In prop hunt-style gameplay, players alternate between the roles of hiders and seekers. Hiders can transform into objects like tables, chairs, or other decorative items found in player housing, concealing themselves throughout the environment. Seekers must locate and eliminate hidden players before time expires, creating strategic depth where knowledge of housing decorations and creative hiding spots becomes essential to success.
The mode represents Blizzard’s effort to expand the social and competitive aspects of player housing, transforming what was previously a primarily aesthetic feature into a venue for active gameplay.
