Amazon Luna Makes Major Changes That Impact All Users
Amazon Luna, the company’s cloud gaming streaming service, is discontinuing support for third-party game purchases and subscriptions, effective immediately. Starting April 10, 2026, users can no longer purchase individual games or subscribe to services like EA Play, Ubisoft Plus, and Jackbox Games through the platform. Games purchased through Luna’s EA, Ubisoft, and GOG storefronts will remain playable until June 10, 2026, after which they will no longer be accessible via Luna’s streaming service.
The company framed the move as a response to player feedback, stating that users wanted “easy access to great games, more social experiences, and a steady flow of new content.” Amazon is focusing its gaming strategy on Luna+ subscription content and games available through Amazon Prime membership.
Users are being offered no refunds for previously purchased games, though titles remain playable on their native platforms through the publishers’ own storefronts. This decision follows Amazon’s broader restructuring of its gaming division during significant company-wide layoffs in October 2025, which included cuts to gaming staff as the company shifted away from competing directly with established platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam.
