Epomaker HE68 Lite gaming keyboard review: a properly cheap mechanical board with premium tricks
Rock Paper Shotgun reviews the Epomaker HE68 Lite, a budget gaming keyboard priced at fifty dollars. The review examines whether this ultra-affordable mechanical keyboard delivers value despite its bargain price point. The keyboard features a compact 65% form factor, making it smaller than full-size mechanical boards.
Initially, the reviewer noted concerns about the construction quality, particularly the hollow plastic bezel surrounding the keyboard. The lightweight feel and slightly scratchy plastic detracted from the premium impression compared to heavier, more robust mechanical keyboards. However, upon actual use, the keyboard performs better than first impressions suggest.
When placed on a desk for typing, the HE68 Lite feels adequately constructed and performs smoothly. The linear key switches provide swift actuation and responsive typing. The review suggests that despite its cheap plastic housing and initial feel of fragility, the keyboard’s actual performance proves competent for gaming and general use. This positions the HE68 Lite as a value option for budget-conscious gamers seeking mechanical keyboard features without premium pricing.
