Professor Layton and the New World of Steam gets a release window and adds PS5 and PC versions
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam has been officially confirmed for a 2026 release window, with a significant platform expansion announced at Level-5’s latest showcase event. The game will launch simultaneously across Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam—marking the franchise’s debut on Sony’s console nearly 20 years after the series began. The PS5 version will feature full mouse support for players who prefer external input control.
The showcase unveiled a new trailer showcasing the game’s setting in Steam Bison and introducing both returning and new characters, including a Don Paolo cameo. The presentation highlighted the game’s enhanced features compared to previous entries, including improved 3D cutscenes and refined movement mechanics. The gameplay demonstration emphasized the series’ core appeal: a blend of visual novel storytelling and logic puzzle gameplay.
The voice cast includes Japanese actors Yo Oizumi and Mio Imada alongside other cast members. While the showcase confirmed the 2026 timeframe, no specific release date has been provided. This multiplatform strategy represents a continuation of Level-5’s approach to expanding previously Nintendo-exclusive franchises, following the studio’s recent releases of Inazuma Eleven and Fantasy Life on additional platforms.
