Level-5’s ‘Snack World’ RPG Is Getting A Full-Blown Remake On Switch 2

Level-5 has announced Snack World: Reloaded, a complete remake of the 2017 roguelike dungeon crawler originally released on Nintendo 3DS and later ported to Switch in 2020. The new version will debut on Switch 2 with a significant visual overhaul featuring enhanced graphics presented in a diorama-like aesthetic, refined gameplay mechanics, and a fresh storyline following the perspective of Chup, the anime’s protagonist.

In a notable shift from the franchise’s Nintendo exclusivity, the remake will also launch on PlayStation 5, joining other Level-5 titles like Inazuma Eleven, Fantasy Life, and Professor Layton in making the jump to Sony’s platform. While specific release windows remain unannounced, Level-5 producer Akihiro Hino confirmed that development is progressing well, though the company’s track record suggests the project may take considerable time to reach completion.

The original Snack World provided players with a whimsical dungeon-crawling experience reminiscent of other Level-5 properties, with its distinctive visual style drawing comparisons to recent games like Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. The remake represents both a technical upgrade for modern hardware and a creative refresh, signaling Level-5’s continued investment in revitalizing established franchises across multiple platforms rather than maintaining platform exclusivity arrangements.
