Viral Rhythm Beat-‘Em-Up Dead As Disco Is ‘Planned’ for PS5
Brain Jar’s rhythm-based beat-’em-up Dead As Disco has announced Early Access availability and confirmed plans to bring the game to PlayStation 5 and other consoles. The game uniquely synchronizes combat mechanics with music, blending gameplay styles from Hi-Fi Rush, Yakuza, and Sifu to create what the studio describes as a “toe-tapping” fighting experience.
In the game, players assume the role of Charlie Disco, a washed-up icon attempting to reclaim fame by challenging the Idols—former bandmates and musical legends—in stylish, music-synced combat. The soundtrack features a diverse multi-genre selection designed to complement the action.
A notable feature of the PC version is the ability to import custom music, allowing players to create personalized combat experiences with their own songs. However, this functionality is not expected to transition to the console versions of the game. The console releases will instead feature the curated in-game soundtrack.
The announcement represents the game’s expansion from its PC Early Access phase to major console platforms, though the exact console release timeline remains unspecified at this stage.
