“I stopped digging through folders”: How OmniSearch changed the way I find files on Windows 11
OmniSearch, a new search utility for Windows 11, offers users a faster and more reliable alternative to the built-in Windows Search. The tool combines instant search results, file previews, and cleanup functionality into a single interface designed to streamline file discovery.
According to testing by Windows Central, OmniSearch addresses long-standing frustrations with Windows Search’s inconsistency, where searches sometimes produce instant results while other queries yield little to no results. After several weeks of use, the reviewer reported a significant change in workflow, eliminating the need to manually dig through folder hierarchies or repeatedly open the Start menu to search for files.
The tool appears to target productivity-focused Windows 11 users who frequently need to locate files across their system. By combining search acceleration with preview capabilities and integrated cleanup tools, OmniSearch aims to reduce friction in common file management tasks.
