Amazon Luna to phase out support for third-party subscriptions and game stores
Amazon Luna will discontinue support for third-party game stores, individual game purchases, and external subscriptions starting June 10, 2026. Following this transition, only players with Amazon Luna’s standard or premium subscriptions will be able to access games in the service’s library.
The changes will eliminate access to several major third-party gaming services previously available on the platform. The EA Play store, Ubisoft store, and GOG will no longer be accessible, and external subscriptions including Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games will be phased out.
Amazon stated the shift is part of a broader strategy to transition “away from certain subscription, game store, and à-la-carte purchasing models in favour of approaches we believe work better for our customers long term.” The company believes consolidating around its own subscription tiers will provide a better long-term experience for users.
This represents a significant consolidation of Luna’s business model, moving away from the flexible purchasing options and third-party integrations that characterized the service’s earlier approach. The shift reflects a broader trend in cloud gaming platforms toward unified subscription-based models, simplifying service operations while reducing consumer choice for players who preferred individual game purchases or alternative subscription services.
