Crimson Desert’s Double Jump Isn’t Bad, You Just Don’t Get It
Players of action game Crimson Desert have been struggling with the double jump ability, a useful traversal skill for navigating the game world. The root cause of the difficulty appears to be twofold: a confusing or mistranslated ability description and a control scheme issue on controllers.
The ability’s description states: “Press [Jump] twice in mid-air before landing on the ground to perform an extra jump.” Players found this wording difficult to understand, leading to widespread confusion about how to properly execute the move. The mistranslation makes the mechanic less intuitive than intended.
Additionally, on controller setups, the double jump and glide abilities are bound to the same button, creating a compounding problem. Players attempting to double jump often trigger the glide ability instead, or vice versa, adding another layer of frustration to mastering the skill.
Once the actual mechanic is clarified, executing the ability becomes manageable, but the unclear description and button conflicts create an unnecessarily high barrier to entry for what should be a straightforward skill to learn.
