Overwatch Lands On Switch 2 Tomorrow, Will Be 60fps Both Handheld And Docked
Overwatch is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on April 14, 2026, marking its debut on Nintendo’s latest hardware. The Switch 2 version will feature 60fps performance in both handheld and docked modes, representing a substantial technical improvement over the original Switch port, which ran at less ideal frame rates.
Conciding with the Switch 2 release, Blizzard is launching Season 2: Summit, a new season in Overwatch’s year-long story arc. The season begins at 11am PT (2pm EST / 7pm BST) on April 14.
Season 2: Summit introduces Sierra, a new Damage hero designed around space control mechanics for both vertical and horizontal positioning. Sierra’s first cosmetic is the Painter Sierra skin, which will be available in the season’s Ultimate Battle Pass. The season also brings new skins for existing heroes, including a standout design for Ramattra and a Spring Fairy-themed skin for Illari through the Ultimate Battle Pass.
The new season continues the narrative direction established in Season 1: Conquest, as Overwatch transitions to an extended story arc format. The timing of the Switch 2 launch with Season 2’s content drop represents a significant expansion of Overwatch’s platform availability, bringing the competitive hero shooter to Nintendo’s newest console for the first time.
