The TFT Carousel will return in Set 18
Teamfight Tactics is shaking up its gameplay formula in Set 17: Space Gods by temporarily removing the Carousel, a foundational mechanic that has served as a crucial comeback tool for players. The Carousel has long provided a strategic advantage to struggling players by giving them priority access to a rotating shop of champions and items, while leading players waited their turn.
Replacing the Carousel for Set 17 is the Realm of the Gods, a new celestial bazaar where players interact with deities to gain boons and earn rewards. Rather than a turn-based selection system, the new mechanic fundamentally changes how players acquire champions and items during matches.
According to set design lead Noëmi Couté in an interview with Polygon, the Realm of the Gods will not immediately return after Set 17 concludes. However, Riot Games has confirmed that the iconic Carousel mechanic will make its comeback in Set 18, signaling a temporary departure from this long-standing system. The rotation demonstrates the studio’s willingness to experiment with core TFT mechanics while maintaining beloved features.
