Warhammer Classics - Announcement Trailer

Games Workshop and publisher SNEG have launched Warhammer Classics, a new initiative to bring classic Warhammer video games back to life on Steam. More than 20 titles spanning the last 30 years of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 have been re-released, with seven making their Steam debut and twelve returning to the platform after being previously unavailable or delisted.

The Warhammer Classics label focuses on preserving iconic games from PC gaming history, including real-time strategy titles, turn-based tactics games, fantasy sports, digital board games, and first-person shooters. Notable titles include Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat (1996), its sequel Warhammer: Dark Omen (1998), Final Liberation: Warhammer Epic 40,000, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate, Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, and Space Hulk.

Each game has been updated to ensure compatibility with modern PC systems while maintaining their original state. The initiative features limited-time discounts for these classic titles. Games Workshop partnered with SNEG and various developers and publishers to restore these cult-favorite games for modern audiences.

The company acknowledges that because these games are being revived in their original form, some content may not accurately reflect current Warhammer lore or depictions within the modern universes and settings. This preservation effort aims to celebrate Warhammer’s significant legacy in PC gaming while making previously unavailable titles accessible to both nostalgic players and newcomers to the franchise.
