East European Comic Con Restricts All Military Cosplays, Including STALKER and Escape from Tarkov
The East European Comic Con (EECC), held twice yearly in Bucharest and attracting tens of thousands of visitors, has announced a comprehensive ban on all military-themed cosplays for 2026. The restriction is part of the event’s updated guidelines, which now also include prohibitions on extremist uniforms, outfits associated with hate speech, vulgar costumes, and anything with sensitive affiliations.
The policy impacts cosplayers planning to portray characters from military-themed video games such as Escape from Tarkov, Battlefield, Call of Duty, and STALKER. These strict new rules take effect for next weekend’s show at the Romexpo convention venue.
The announcement has generated significant disappointment within the cosplay community. Those planning to wear military-themed costumes have taken to social media to voice their frustration with the comprehensive restrictions. The ban adds military outfits to an expanding list of prohibited costume categories at the convention.
