Helldivers Movie Starring Jason Momoa Set For Pre-Production
The Helldivers film adaptation will enter pre-production within two weeks, filmmaker Justin Lin announced at CinemaCon. The movie stars Jason Momoa and is part of Sony’s broader strategy to adapt its video game franchises for cinema audiences.
The project capitalizes on the ongoing popularity of Helldivers 2, the cooperative sci-fi shooter that has expanded beyond its initial PlayStation 5 and PC exclusivity to reach Xbox Series X|S, significantly broadening its player base. While specific plot details remain limited, the film is expected to draw from the universe established by the game franchise.
This adaptation represents Sony’s continued investment in translating gaming IP into major motion picture releases. The involvement of Jason Momoa, known for his role in DC’s Aquaman, signals the studio’s ambitions for a high-profile theatrical release.
