Jumanji: Open World shares first trailer and plot details at CinemaCon
At CinemaCon 2026, Sony Pictures unveiled the next installment in the Jumanji franchise: Jumanji: Open World. The film represents the third directorial effort by Jake Kasdan, who previously helmed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
Jumanji: Open World marks the fifth film in the overall Jumanji series, which began with the 1995 cult classic starring Robin Williams. The new film promises to deliver the franchise’s signature blend of action, adventure, and comedy, featuring video game monsters and exotic jungle exploration. Set photos reveal the story will expand beyond traditional jungle settings to include urban, real-world environments—a “concrete jungle” element adding fresh dimension to the adventure.
The filmmakers are honoring the original film’s legacy with a tribute to Robin Williams, whose iconic role launched the franchise. The cast will also feature one-half of an unspecified iconic partnership, though complete details remain unavailable from the initial announcement.
