League of Legends Gets WASD in Ranked and Big Arena Update
Riot Games has announced significant updates for League of Legends’ Season 2 Act 1: Pandemonium. The developer revealed that Season 2 2026 will be shorter than typical, running for six patches instead of the usual eight, with plans for a larger Season 3 later this year.
The update introduces several new features designed to improve the ranked experience. WASD controls will now be available in ranked matches, providing players with an alternative control scheme. The game will also implement automatic trolling detection that triggers early surrender votes for affected teams—similar to existing AFK detection. Players identified as intentionally feeding will be excluded from the surrender vote and face punishment, while their teammates retain their LP and opponents earn full LP for the win.
Additional improvements include Discord integration and a comprehensive overhaul of the Arena game mode. By condensing Season 2 to six patches, Riot Games aims to allocate development resources toward a more substantial Season 3, signaling a shift in the game’s seasonal structure.
