Marvel’s White Beast is pure evil in X-Men spinoff DNX

Marvel has announced a new five-issue miniseries titled DNX launching in September that reimagines the X-Men character Beast as a supervillain. In this spinoff, Hank McCoy has adopted the villainous persona of “The Chairman” and plots to force genetic mutation upon all of humanity. The story will pit the Fantastic Four and much of the Marvel Universe against Beast’s sinister scheme.

The creative decision to portray Beast as an antagonist marks a significant departure from his traditional characterization in X-Men media. In both animated series and live-action films, Beast has been depicted as an intellectual “nutty professor” type—more comfortable conducting laboratory research than engaging in superhero combat. His X-Men peers typically prioritize confronting supervillains, while Beast has historically preferred scientific pursuits.

The reimagined villain features distinctive snow-white fur, visually signaling his transformation from hero to antagonist. This physical redesign complements his darker motivations and creates stark visual contrast to his previous Marvel appearances. The DNX miniseries exemplifies Marvel’s exploration of character reinterpretation, transforming a beloved intellectual mutant into a potential threat to humanity itself.
