Paranormal Activity 8 director says his reboot is bringing ‘big reveals’
Ian Tuason, who has quickly risen through the horror industry with viral VR horror content and the A24 film Undertone, is set to direct a Paranormal Activity reboot. In an interview with Polygon, Tuason stated he has been given “full control” over the revival. The franchise, which made Blumhouse Productions an international horror powerhouse, will see its first theatrical release since a straight-to-streaming film.
Tuason expressed his enthusiasm as a long-time fan of the series, telling Polygon that audiences should expect “some big reveals” from his vision. The franchise has been dormant from major theatrical releases, with the previous film receiving poor reception.
With Undertone now available through PVOD platforms and theaters, Tuason’s focus turns entirely to the Paranormal Activity revival. His rapid progression in the horror industry—from viral social media content to feature filmmaking—makes him an intriguing choice to rejuvenate the once-dominant franchise.
