The Legend Of Zelda And Helldivers Movies Get New Updates

At CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas this week, Sony Pictures announced significant production milestones for its video game adaptations. The live-action The Legend of Zelda film has officially wrapped filming after six months on set, marking a major step in bringing Nintendo’s iconic franchise to the big screen.

Directed by Wes Ball, the adaptation now enters post-production and potential re-shoot phases ahead of its confirmed May 7, 2027 theatrical release. The cast features Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and Bo Bragason as Zelda. These actors were previously spotted in leaked set photos dating back to November 2025, though Sony has since officially revealed them in full costume to the public. Principal photography took place on location in New Zealand, utilizing some of the region’s distinctive scenic landscapes.

While Sony’s CinemaCon presentation did not include new footage, images, or other details about The Legend of Zelda project, the studio reaffirmed its commitment to the May 2027 release schedule. Additionally, Sony provided updates regarding its other video game movie adaptation, Helldivers, which stars actor Jason Momoa and is also slated for release in 2027.
