Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie Animator Comments on Leak
The upcoming animated film Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender was leaked on X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend when an anonymous account uploaded the entire completed movie. The leaker claimed that Paramount had accidentally emailed them the digital file, though later reports suggest the studio may have been hacked instead.
The leak comes months before the film’s scheduled premiere on Paramount+. Last December, Paramount announced it was shifting from a theatrical release to a streaming-only format. An animator working on the film has since criticized those who are using Paramount’s “awful decision” to cancel the theatrical release as justification for leaking the content. Despite the unauthorized release, the film has received overwhelmingly positive community response, with critics and fans praising its quality and arguing that Paramount should reconsider releasing it in theaters as originally planned.
The film is produced by Avatar Studios, a Paramount subsidiary formed in 2021, and is based on the beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
