Hades 2’s second post-launch update secretly adds a new game mode

Hades 2 has received its second major post-launch patch, released in tandem with the game’s launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The update includes numerous quality-of-life improvements and content additions, with developer Supergiant Games notably keeping one significant feature secret until players discovered it themselves.

The official patch notes highlight expansions to the Fated Prophecy system with new narrated conclusion scenes for various characters like Odysseus and Arachne, and a new “Forever Gifting” system that allows indefinite gifting of items like Bath Salts and Ambrosia to most Crossroads characters. Romance mechanics received considerable attention, with Icarus—historically one of the game’s most difficult-to-romance characters—now forming bonds with players much more easily. Additional romance improvements make relationship-building more accessible across the board.

The update’s most significant surprise was a completely new game mode called Dream Dives, discovered by community members rather than mentioned in official patch notes. Described as “a breezy alternative to your regular nightly routine that will always keep you guessing,” this mode provides an alternative approach to combat and progression compared to traditional runs through the Underworld and Olympus. The patch also includes balance adjustments with buffs to some of the game’s weaker gods, continuing Supergiant’s ongoing post-launch support efforts that began with an October update addressing fan concerns about the game’s ending.
