Phantom Blade Zero Honor System Will Influence Main Story

Phantom Blade Zero, S-Game’s upcoming Wuxia-based action RPG, will launch in September 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. The developer has been gradually revealing details about the game’s innovative systems and gameplay mechanics.

One of the key features is an “actions of honor” system that ties directly into the narrative experience. According to CEO and creator Soulframe Liang, player decisions made during side quests will have meaningful consequences on the main story, creating a branching narrative that rewards virtuous or dishonorable choices throughout the game.

The combat system draws heavily from traditional Wuxia martial arts, featuring multiple fighting styles including an intriguing drunken sword technique. The behind-the-scenes video showcases extensive motion capture work that brings these martial arts movements to life with impressive detail and fluidity. The game features adaptive boss encounters where enemies can analyze and adapt to the player’s tactics during combat.

The narrative centers on the protagonist Soul, who is facing a dire situation: he has only 66 days remaining to live following a fatal wound to his heart. This sets up the core motivation for his journey as he searches for a potential remedy to his condition, while the time constraint adds urgency to his quest.

The developers have emphasized the importance of authentic Wuxia elements, both in how combat is presented and how the story unfolds. With its combination of reactive narrative systems, dynamic combat mechanics, and thematic depth rooted in martial arts tradition, Phantom Blade Zero is shaping up to be a significant title in the action RPG genre.
