Starfield Receives Nintendo Switch 2 Rating in Taiwan

Starfield has been rated for Nintendo Switch 2 according to a listing that recently appeared on Taiwan’s Entertainment Software Rating Information board. The discovery comes just days after the sci-fi RPG’s launch on PlayStation 5 on April 15th, bolstering long-standing speculation about a Switch 2 port.

While the appearance of a game on an official classification board typically suggests an upcoming release, nothing has been officially confirmed by Bethesda. The rating’s emergence represents the strongest evidence yet that the port is in development, following years of industry rumors that have oscillated between suggesting delays and hinting the project might never materialize.

Starfield originally debuted on Xbox and PC in 2023 before expanding to PlayStation 5 this month, marking a significant shift in Microsoft’s approach to exclusive titles. The company has become increasingly willing to share major releases across competitors’ hardware.

Bethesda has already demonstrated strong commitment to the Switch 2 platform with multiple releases, including remasters of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is also slated for the console.

One notable quirk in the Taiwan rating: the listing displays an April 15th release date for the Switch 2 version, matching the PS5 launch date. Multiple sources caution that this appears to be placeholder information and should not be interpreted as confirmation of an imminent release.

Ratings from classification boards like Taiwan’s typically precede official announcements and generally indicate legitimate forthcoming releases. However, officials emphasize that Bethesda’s formal confirmation remains necessary to definitively verify the Switch 2 port’s status and timeline, particularly given the technical challenges involved in porting such a demanding game to hybrid hardware.
