Broken Statikk Shiv Rework Can’t Make It Into League of Legends
Riot Games has implemented a significant rework to Statikk Shiv, a popular League of Legends item, that the community fears could be game-breaking. The change modifies the item’s signature passive ability, causing its lightning bolts to apply all on-hit effects to up to four nearby enemies.
According to reports, this alteration enables numerous powerful new item and ability combinations that appear to be excessively strong. The community has expressed concern that the rework could severely impact game balance, and many players are urging Riot to prevent the change from reaching the live server.
The timing of this rework is particularly contentious, as Riot Games previously committed to avoiding significant mid-season balance patches this year to prevent player alienation and maintain the current meta stability. The Statikk Shiv changes are currently being tested on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) and would need to be addressed before a potential live release.
If implemented without adjustments, the expanded on-hit interactions enabled by this rework could create unforeseen balance issues, making it a critical concern for both the development team and the competitive community as they work toward maintaining a healthy game state.
