The film industry appears to be experiencing a resurgence, with 2026 box office numbers running strongly ahead of 2025. At CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. presented an impressive slate of upcoming films, building on the studio’s remarkable 2025 performance. The studio generated over $4 billion in global box office revenue in 2025 across releases including A Minecraft Movie, Superman, F1, Sinners, and Weapons.

During their presentation, Warner Bros. made several significant announcements, revealing the cast for the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum film. The studio also announced a new science fiction project from Zach Cregger, director of the successful 2025 film Weapons.

The studio showcased footage from several upcoming productions, including Supergirl, Mortal Kombat 2, Evil Dead Burn, and two original science fiction films: The End of Oak Street and The Great Beyond. The presentation demonstrated Warner Bros.’ commitment to a diverse slate spanning established franchises, adaptations, and original concepts.

The CinemaCon presentations reflect broader industry confidence in theatrical exhibition. Sony Pictures had presented its slate on Monday, followed by Warner Bros. on Tuesday. These major studio commitments suggest the industry is betting on continued recovery and sustained audience interest in theatrical experiences.
