20-Year-Old Sony JRPG Makes Surprise Return to PS5, PS4 Next Week, Free on PS Plus Premium
Sony has announced that Wild Arms 4, a 2005 PS2 JRPG developed by Media.Vision, will join the PS Plus Premium Classics Catalogue starting April 21st. The game will be playable on both PS5 and PS4 through emulation, marking a notable addition to the subscription service’s previously sparse classic games library.
The first three entries in the Wild Arms series are already available on the PlayStation Store. The addition of Wild Arms 4 has sparked hope among fans that Wild Arms 5 may eventually follow, as the fifth installment is considered a particularly popular entry in the franchise and was a notably late PS2 release.
Wild Arms 4 itself has received mixed reception over the years. While its hexagonal grid-based battle system earned widespread praise, the game’s story has faced sustained criticism. Additionally, the North American version of the game was released with two monsters removed from the game, creating an unusual discrepancy in the content.
The arrival of Wild Arms 4 on PS Plus Premium represents Sony’s continued effort to expand the classic games available on its subscription service, further demonstrating PlayStation’s commitment to preserving older titles and making them accessible to new and returning players alike.
