Battlefield 6 Is Doubling Down On Big Maps, With Much Larger Ones On The Way
Battlefield 6 launched in October 2025 as a massive success, becoming the best-selling game of the year. However, the initial enthusiasm waned sharply after the underwhelming first two seasons, with players citing a critical missing feature: large, vehicle-focused maps that had been a franchise staple.
In response to sustained community feedback, EA and Battlefield Studios have released a comprehensive 2026 roadmap promising seven new maps across the remaining seasons. Season 3 will introduce Railway to Golmud, a reimagined Battlefield 4 classic and the game’s largest map to date. Season 4 (arriving in July) will bring naval warfare to the game, featuring aircraft carriers with operational flight decks, new naval vehicles, and a dynamic wave system for strategic gameplay. The season will also include the return of Wake Island, marking its 11th appearance in the Battlefield franchise since the original 1942 entry.
Beyond maps, the roadmap includes a new server browser with persistent servers functionality, addressing another long-standing community request. With seven new maps planned and major new gameplay features, Battlefield Studios appears to be committing to rebuilding player confidence throughout 2026.
