Call Of Duty Movie Gets A 2028 Release Date, But We Still Don’t Know Much

Paramount Pictures and Activision announced that the long-awaited Call of Duty live-action movie will release in theaters on June 30, 2028, according to announcements made at CinemaCon. The release date arrives just before the iconic franchise’s 25th anniversary.

The film will be directed by Peter Berg, known for projects like Friday Night Lights, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day. Berg will also co-write the screenplay alongside Taylor Sheridan, creator of the hit series Yellowstone and screenwriter of acclaimed films like Sicario and Hell or High Water. The project is being produced by Activision president Rob Kostich and David Glasser, with Berg and Sheridan also serving as producers.

While the release date has been officially locked in, very few other details about the film have been revealed. Plot details, cast members, and a synopsis remain undisclosed. Both Paramount and Activision have stated their intention to “honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great” while “boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.” Producers emphasized that the film aims to maintain authenticity on a human level while delivering epic scope and scale.

The Call of Duty movie adaptation has been in development for over a decade. Activision first announced plans for a Call of Duty cinematic universe more than ten years ago, but the project only recently began to materialize after the partnership with Paramount was formalized.
