Fortune’s Run resumes development following creator’s prison release: ‘The parole board reviewed my case and instantly kicked my ass out of jail’

Fortune’s Run, a stylish immersive sim and boomer shooter by solo developer Dizzie, is resuming active development following the creator’s recent release from prison on parole. According to the developer, the parole board’s review resulted in their immediate release.

The solo project has attracted significant attention from the gaming press, with PC Gamer covering the game six times between 2022 and 2024. The title has been favorably compared to the unreleased Jedi Knight 4, praised for its distinctive art direction and blend of immersive sim and boomer shooter gameplay. Development was evidently paused during the developer’s incarceration.

Dizzie has indicated plans to release a new update within 6 to 12 months, marking the resumption of regular development cycles for the anticipated indie title.
