James Acaster to star in new Apple Arcade game Perchang World
British comedian James Acaster has been cast as the narrator for Perchang World, a physics-puzzle game from UK indie studio Perchang launching exclusively on Apple Arcade on May 7. Described as a blend of “Portal meets Lemmings,” the game marks Acaster’s debut in video game voice acting.
Acaster brings significant media recognition to the project as cohost of the popular podcast Off Menu and through appearances in Taskmaster, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and numerous television panel and chat shows. His distinctive comedic style will shape the game’s narrative presentation.
Perchang, a seven-person studio based in Guildford, was founded in 2016 by Pete Akehurst and Ben Murch, both veterans of triple-A game development. The pairing of the indie studio with an established entertainment personality reflects an emerging trend of mainstream talent bolstering indie game visibility.
The exclusive Apple Arcade release positions Perchang World within Apple’s premium subscription gaming service, targeting users across iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
