Everyone’s Favourite SEGA Character, Red from Angry Birds, Now Available in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has expanded its diverse roster with the addition of Red from Angry Birds as a new playable character. The move capitalizes on SEGA’s acquisition of Rovio Entertainment, the developer behind the popular Angry Birds franchise. By bringing the iconic red bird character into the kart racer, SEGA continues to leverage its portfolio of acquired studios and intellectual properties.
Red is available immediately and at no cost to players, continuing SEGA’s pattern of offering free character additions to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The character arrives with substantial cosmetic content, including a uniquely designed vehicle called the Super Roaster, custom emotes and sound effects that match the Angry Birds aesthetic, and three dedicated Angry Birds-themed tracks for the game’s Jukebox feature.
This addition represents part of a broader wave of character announcements for the title. SEGA has also confirmed plans to add Goro Majima, the beloved character from the Like a Dragon franchise, further diversifying CrossWorlds’ already extensive playable character lineup. These cross-franchise collaborations reflect SEGA’s strategy of positioning Sonic Racing as a platform that brings together characters from across its vast library of owned and acquired properties, creating appeal to both longtime fans and new players.
