Saros Has “Very Special Haptics” On PS5’s DualSense Controller
Saros, an upcoming PS5-exclusive third-person sci-fi roguelike from Housemarque, is launching on April 30, 2026, and the developer has detailed extensive features designed to showcase both the standard PS5 and PS5 Pro hardware capabilities.
According to creative director Gregory Louden, Housemarque’s goal has been to “push the hardware and be a showcase for PlayStation 5,” and the developer has implemented several advanced features to achieve this. The game has gone gold and is ready for its end-of-month release.
On PS5 Pro, Saros leverages updated PSSR 2 technology alongside an increased base render resolution compared to the standard PS5 version. Technical director Seppo Halonen explained that this approach delivers an even sharper image at higher resolution, with the visual quality described as nearly indistinguishable from native 4K. The game targets 60 fps on PS5 Pro while maintaining these enhanced visuals through dynamic resolution scaling, ensuring smooth performance for the fast-paced roguelike gameplay.
The increased base render resolution on PS5 Pro—before any upscaling—results in clearer, higher-quality visuals at launch, demonstrating how developers can effectively utilize the console’s enhanced processing capabilities. Saros appears positioned as a title that will help justify the PS5 Pro’s investment for early adopters, particularly following recent price increases for the console.
The game represents Housemarque’s latest project following the critical success of Returnal, bringing the studio’s expertise in fast-paced action gameplay to a new roguelike experience built around PlayStation’s latest hardware features.
