SNK is releasing a modern NeoGeo AES console with ‘unrivaled authenticity’ and £70 game cartridges
SNK and Plaion are bringing back the classic NeoGeo AES console with a modern re-release planned for November 12, 2026. The system, which originally debuted in 1990, will be available in Standard and 35th Anniversary Edition versions, both priced at £179.99 / €199.99.
The re-released console promises “unrivaled authenticity” and maintains full backward compatibility with original NeoGeo AES cartridges, allowing players to use their existing game libraries. New game cartridges will be released alongside the hardware at £69.99 / €79.99 each.
The modern NeoGeo AES+ includes discrete quality-of-life improvements designed to enhance the classic experience, including low-latency HDMI output for contemporary display connectivity. The console builds on the original system’s reputation for delivering exceptional arcade ports, a defining feature throughout its lifecycle.
The announcement marks the latest example of hardware manufacturers revisiting beloved retro systems to capture both nostalgia-driven collectors and new players interested in classic gaming. With full cartridge compatibility and planned new game releases, SNK is positioning the re-release as a comprehensive package for NeoGeo enthusiasts.
