Street Fighter film gets new trailer full of roundhouses and explosions, plus a spot of mournful karaoke
Paramount Pictures released a full-length trailer for the upcoming Street Fighter live-action film, showcasing an adaptation that embraces the franchise’s arcade roots and campy spirit. The film stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, alongside Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and other cast members.
The trailer reveals a plot centered on Chun-Li recruiting fighters for the World Warrior tournament, with particular focus on the reconnection between Ryu and Ken following their falling out. Ryu has grown long hair and a beard, while Ken—who once had his own MTV show—has become a sideshow in his hometown.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), the film leans heavily into recognizable game references and over-the-top action sequences. The trailer features iconic moments including Ken fighting a car, Cammy firing a rocket launcher from a vehicle, and Zangief performing his signature Spinning Piledriver. The production features a pulpy, neon-drenched 90s aesthetic that embraces B-movie energy.
Critical reception has been playfully mixed, with reviewers describing the film as simultaneously “terrible and amazing”—deliberately self-aware about its ridiculousness and leaning into the absurdity rather than fighting it. Characters like M. Bison, Blanka, Cammy, and Akuma are featured, with designs aiming for authenticity to their gaming counterparts despite the over-the-top tone.
The film is scheduled to release on October 16, 2026.
