Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Wins Best Game at the BAFTA Games Awards 2026

The 2026 BAFTA Games Awards ceremony, held on April 17 in London, crowned Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as Best Game, marking only the second game to win all five major gaming awards ceremonies (the first being Baldur’s Gate 3). The French RPG from Sandfall Interactive led the field with 12 nominations and secured three awards: Best Game, Best Debut Game, and Performer in a Leading Role for Jennifer English as Maelle.

Dispatch, the narrative superhero game from AdHoc Studio, tied Clair Obscur with three awards: Animation, Audio Achievement, and Performer in a Supporting Role for Jeffrey Wright as Chase. The game had entered the ceremony with nine nominations.

The awards reflected a broad distribution of recognition across the industry. Ghost of Yōtei claimed Music and Technical Achievement, while Death Stranding 2 won Artistic Achievement. Kingdom Come: Deliverance II took the Narrative award—notably defeating Clair Obscur in this category—while No Man’s Sky received recognition as an Evolving Game. Atomfall from Rebellion earned Best British Game, and indie puzzle game Blue Prince won Game Design.

The ceremony highlighted diverse titles across the gaming landscape, with other nominees including Hades II and Hollow Knight: Silksong.
