Roblox releases agentic AI tools for creators, promising ability to “build a game with a single prompt”

Roblox has announced Planning Mode, a new agentic AI feature integrated into Roblox Studio that enables game creators to generate complete games from text prompts. The tool represents an attempt to democratize game development by automating the complex, multi-disciplinary process of creating games.

Planning Mode works by taking a creator’s text description of their desired game concept and converting it into a structured game design document. The AI then uses this design document as a blueprint to implement the game directly within Studio. The system can iterate on feedback from creators to refine the design before implementation, and includes automated QA testing capabilities to ensure the generated game functions properly.

Roblox frames this as a solution to game development’s inherent complexity, which typically requires multiple disciplines and continuous exploration and iteration. By automating these steps, the company aims to lower the barrier to entry for game creation on its platform, allowing creators to build functional games through natural language prompts.

The announcement positions Planning Mode as part of the growing integration of AI assistance into game development tools. It represents one of the first major platforms offering agentic AI capabilities directly integrated into its primary development environment.
