Slay the Spire 2 gets its first major update, buffing the Regent, bringing sweeping balance changes, and adding a powerful new card
Slay the Spire 2 has received its first major balance update following approximately one month of beta testing. Version 0.103.2 rolls all recent beta patches into the main branch, bringing substantial gameplay and presentation overhauls to the roguelike deckbuilder.
The update introduces sweeping balance adjustments, including major buffs to the Regent character and changes to Ascension 6. A new powerful card has been added, and multiple heroes—the Ironclad, Silent, Regent, and Necrobinder—have undergone significant character reworks. Beyond balance changes, the patch replaces placeholder MS Paint artwork with proper art assets, implements UI and UX improvements, refines writing for clarity, and fixes various bugs.
The update triggered a wave of negative reviews on Steam, dropping the game’s recent review rating from “Overwhelmingly Positive” to “Mixed.” The community backlash reflects disagreement with some balance changes, though developer Mega Crit anticipated this reaction. The studio has emphasized that Slay the Spire 2 remains in Early Access, meaning all changes remain subject to further iteration and adjustment based on player feedback.
