Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream gave me a new archnemesis

A Polygon writer shares their experience with Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, a whimsical life simulation game that takes inspiration from The Sims. The game centers around creating Miis—character avatars—and watching them interact with minimal player intervention on a virtual island paradise.

The author describes their gameplay mishaps, beginning with creating a Mii version of themselves and placing it in the game world. They then added their real-life girlfriend as a neighbor and made a critical third decision: introducing a Mii recreation of Todd Howard, executive director at Bethesda Game Studios, into the neighborhood.

What was meant to be a relaxing tropical escape transformed when Howard’s Mii character began causing chaos in the game. The digital version of the Skyrim director became the writer’s archnemesis within the game, interfering with their peaceful simulation through unexpected interactions with other Miis.
