PS5’s NTE Blows Up Gacha Norms with 470 Free Pulls and No 50/50

Neverness to Everness (NTE), a free-to-play open world gacha game, will launch on PS5 on April 29 with exceptionally generous starter rewards and a player-friendly gacha system. According to the game’s pre-launch livestream, players will receive 470 free pulls at launch—enough to unlock approximately five free characters without spending money.

The game’s most significant innovation is its elimination of the 50/50 gacha mechanic that frustrates players in competitors like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. Instead, NTE features a Standard Board that guarantees players one free S-Rank character within 50 pulls, removing the randomness that typically plagues gacha progression.

NTE distinguishes itself through hybrid gameplay combining combat mechanics with life simulation elements inspired by GTA Online. Players can purchase and decorate apartments, engage in non-combat activities, and build characters through traditional action-based exploration.

The generous initial pull allocation and consumer-friendly gacha structure represent a significant shift in live-service monetisation strategy. By guaranteeing early-game character diversity and eliminating the frustrating 50/50 system, NTE directly challenges how established gacha titles approach player progression and spending incentives. This approach could influence how future free-to-play games balance monetisation with player satisfaction, particularly as competition intensifies in the crowded open-world gacha market.
